Fees and Payments

Individual Somatic Psychotherapy Appointments are scheduled for 60 minutes. The current standard hourly rate at Beyond the Mind Psychotherapy will be discussed during the consultation call with your therapist.

Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy Appointments (Ketamine KAP, and Cannabis CAP) are scheduled for 120 minutes and are pro-rated from your standard hourly rate.

  • At Beyond the Mind Psychotherapy, we only accept self-pay and are unable to accept insurance payments, nor do we work directly with insurance companies. This means that you’ll be required to pay out of pocket our agreed upon rate on the day of service.

If you have out-of-network benefits with your insurance company, a superbill can be provided to you that you can submit to insurance for possible reimbursement. There are unfortunately no guarantees for reimbursement and every company and plan is different. What this means is that you pay out of pocket at the time of service for your sessions, and then submit a claim to your insurance company requesting reimbursement for services previously rendered. Please tell your therapist if you would like to receive a superbill.

Please note: at Beyond the Mind, we are unable to accept individuals who are enrolled with Medicaid Insurance as we are not enrolled providers for Colorado’s Medical Assistance Program (Medicaid). Current Colorado law states that clinicians are unable to bill Medicaid recipients for services covered by Medicaid, in this case “psychotherapy.” Therefore, we are unable to provide services to any recipient of Medicaid. At Beyond the Mind, new clients are asked to sign a document stating that you are not currently a recipient of Colorado Medicaid and that you understand that it is your responsibility to inform us if you become a recipient of Colorado Medicaid at any point in the future while we are working together; at which time, we will no longer be able to provide care.

At Beyond the Mind Psychotherapy, we offer a limited number of reduced cost and sliding scale therapy slots. We know that out of pocket fees can sometimes be prohibitive. If you are struggling to pay the hourly rate, or would like to know more about reduced fee options, please let your therapist know so we can discuss options.

  • Generally speaking, if a therapist accepts your insurance, the fee for the service and/or the copay you are responsible for are set and controlled by the insurance company and the plan that you have. The therapist will likely ask you to sign a release of information for the insurance company so that they can submit billing documents for reimbursement, and will need to submit information about your mental health diagnosis and other aspects of your care. Based on this information, the insurance company can dictate how many sessions and/or how much time per week you are allowed to receive care for your mental health. Some insurance companies allow you to ‘waive’ your insurance and pay the therapist out of pocket to avoid these requirements, while other insurance companies do not allow you to waive your insurance (i.e., Colorado Medicaid).

Other therapists choose to work independent of the insurance companies, meaning they are not paneled with any particular insurance company (the process in which insurance companies ‘accept’ a therapist as an approved provider). In this case, either the therapist, or a group of therapists working together, set their own fee structure. In many cases this process is rather arbitrary. A therapist may do some research in the community and charge what they feel is comparable to others in their area; another therapist may choose a fee based on the cost of their office rent or their own personal belief about what they are worth in the service they provide; other therapists may be particularly skilled and charge more due to offering a specialized service. The point here is that the amount a therapist charges per hour may or may not have anything to do with their actual skills, levels of experience, time in the field, or ultimately the quality of the service they are providing you.

At Beyond the Mind, we offer specialized skills and services, and our rates attempt to reflect or run slightly lower than comparable services in the local area.
