Psychedelic Psychotherapy
Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy in Colorado is riding and guiding many of the waves of the psychedelic renaissance, with some cutting-edge policy change (check out Colorado Proposition 122, the Natural Medicine Act of 2022) and prominent research projects (check out MAPS research on MDMA). As is the case with Ketamine and Cannabis Assisted Psychotherapy, research seems to be finding that certain psychedelics in conjunction with psychotherapy can have profound healing effects and positive outcomes on conditions like PTSD, treatment resistant depression, and substance use disorders. This large movement of research being conducted on the potential psychological benefits of psychedelic medicines such as: MDMA; Psilocybin; 5-MEO-DMT; DMT; LSD; Ayahuasca; Mescaline and Ibogaine.
What to Expect
What to expect during a Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy session at Beyond the Mind:
Ketamine and Cannabis Assisted Psychotherapy sessions are always scheduled for 120 minutes / 2-hours.
A ride will need to be arranged to pick you up after every KAP/CAP session.
Medicated sessions will always be pre-arranged (we will never decide last minute to go into a KAP/CAP session).
Even if a medicated session is scheduled, you can always decide when you arrive to session that you’d prefer not to utilize the medication, and a regular session will be arranged instead.
Medication will be taken approximately 15 minutes into the 2-hour time slot.
Come in on an empty stomach – general recommendations are only clear liquids and hour or two prior to KAP/CAP.
Once you take the medication, you will get settled into a state of body tracking and relaxation while we wait for the onset of the medication.
The therapist will provide background music during the session.
An eye mask is generally worn throughout the experience.
