Parad K Meier, PhD, LPC, LAC
Throughout my career, I have worked with many individuals who have been in therapy for years and haven’t begun to address the deep wounds of trauma and attachment. So many of us suffer from trauma, nervous system disruptions, PTSD, attachment trauma etc. I always approach my work with a foundational, somatic trauma philosophy, and use a variety of specific trauma strategies with all of my clients, as an alternative approach from traditional talk therapy. We will explore who and how you are in the present, and then deep dive into how your past has influenced present-moment experiences. As humans, we learn to avoid things that are uncomfortable, yet this avoidance is often what keeps us stuck and unwell. We will always work together, collaboratively, on the ‘puzzle’ that is you. Sometimes this means navigating symptoms, triggers, dynamics, or overall functioning, while other times this means working in a nuanced way to find your voice, self-expression & expansion, growth and true authenticity. I believe that connection is healing, and my style is highly relational and person-centered with the foundational understanding that we as humans have the innate capacity to heal. Even though the philosophy and strategy of my work is a focus on nervous system disruptions and trauma resolution, this does not mean you need to have significant trauma, PTSD or Complex PTSD to work with me. Whatever brings you to seek psychotherapy, I look forward to joining you on your journey of introspection, deep self-reflection, and change. Sometimes it’s a matter of finding the support we need to adjust our focus & attention, in order to intentionally walk a path of growth and healing.

Somatic Psychotherapy
Somatic Psychotherapy is the primary service offered at Beyond the Mind, and is the foundation of the therapeutic work. This type of therapy works with the whole person to address nervous system disruptions with the aim of resolving trauma in order to bring our body, mind, and emotions to the present.
-
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
This type of therapy utilizes a lower dose prescription of sublingual ketamine in conjunction with psychotherapy to deepen into the therapeutic process. Often KAP is recommended for those with Trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD, Attachment and Relationship struggles, and Depression. However, KAP can be a lovely adjunct to many kinds of presenting issues in therapy and can expand and encourage healing across many areas of desired growth.
KAP is only available in-person, under supervision from qualified professionals.
All KAP sessions are scheduled for 2-hours (120 minutes) and prices are prorated per your standard hourly rate.
-
Cannabis Assisted Psychotherapy (CAP)
This type of therapy utilizes cannabis in conjunction with psychotherapy to deepen the therapeutic process. For many people, CAP works well with somatic psychotherapy and has the potential to deepen the somatic processing capacity. CAP is useful for many therapeutic goals ranging from the processing and resolution of trauma and attachment symptomology to expanding our sense of self and seeing what gets in the way of our potential for growth. CAP has an innate capacity to help us access ‘bottom-up processing’, and often helps people get out of their own way when it comes to the impulse to out think and thereby override the very nervous system responses that can help us heal.
CAP is only available in-person, under supervision from qualified professionals.
All CAP sessions are scheduled for 2-hours (120 minutes) and prices are prorated per your standard hourly rate.

Psychedelic Psychotherapy
Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy is an umbrella term that can suggest the use of various different psychedelic or ‘psychedelic-like’ substances in conjunction with psychotherapy. At this time at Beyond the Mind Psychotherapy, LLC we are only able to offer Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy with the use of either Ketamine or Cannabis as other psychedelics are not legally available for use in conjunction with psychotherapy at this time here in Colorado.
-
Psychedelic Integration
What is Psychedelic Integration? Psychedelic Integration can mean various things depending on the context and provider. Most often, what it means at Beyond the Mind Psychotherapy is scheduling 60-minute integration sessions at various intervals after Ketamine or Cannabis Assisted Psychotherapy. Integration sessions do not involve any medicines, and instead we review and discuss what is coming up in the medicated KAP or CAP experiences and integrate them.

At Beyond the Mind, consultation is generally encouraged for therapists who would like additional support in two primary areas: working with clients with trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD and/or for clinicians working with clients with the use of Ketamine or Cannabis Assisted Psychotherapy. Priority is given to professionals who have completed trainings & training related consultation with Beyond the Mind and would like ongoing support.

Throughout my career, I have specialized both educationally and experientially in the care and treatment of individuals struggling with substance use and trauma. Additionally, I’ve had the great fortune to specialize even further in working with pregnant and postpartum women; with LGBTQ individuals; and with individuals looking to reintegrate into society and heal after involvement with the courts or navigating probation or parole. Throughout my time in the field, I’ve gathered over eight and a half years of supervisory experience, including supervision of therapists, clinical staff, and interns. Additionally, I’ve provided somatic training for over 3 years to clinical professionals in Colorado. The first 17 years of my professional experience was working in community mental health and for non-profit organizations. With some overlap, I’ve had a private practice for about 9 years; jumping to full-time private practice and stepping away from community mental health in 2020.
