Psychedelic Integration
What is Psychedelic Integration? Psychedelic Integration can mean various things depending on the context and provider. Most often, what it means at Beyond the Mind Psychotherapy is scheduling 60-minute integration sessions at various intervals after Ketamine or Cannabis Assisted Psychotherapy. Integration sessions do not involve any medicines, and instead we review and discuss what is coming up in the medicated KAP or CAP experiences and integrate them.
What to Expect
What does psychedelic integration look like at Beyond the Mind?
The frequency and pacing of psychedelic integration sessions will vary from person to person. Many people request an integration session after a Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy (Ketamine or Cannabis) medicated session. Others may only want to schedule psychedelic integration after a handful of medicated sessions.
Other times, psychedelic integration means that we schedule a 60-minute psychedelic integration session after someone has a psychedelic experience outside of therapy. At this time, it is not legal for psychotherapists in the State of Colorado to offer psychedelic assisted psychotherapy with the use of medicines other than Ketamine and Cannabis. At the same time, there is a lot of research happening in the field to get medicines such as psilocybin and MDMA approved for use in clinical settings. In addition, now that the transport, growth and use of some psychedelics (in particular psilocybin) has been decimalized (see proposition 122) in the state of Colorado, many people are using it more freely on their own time and having big and often therapeutically relevant experiences. At Beyond the Mind Psychotherapy, we are knowledgeable in the use of psychedelics for healing, and are open to helping individuals integrate big psychedelic experiences they may have had outside of the therapy setting.
In addition to integration, we also strongly support preparation sessions prior to any pre-planned experience of psychedelics. We always provide multiple preparation sessions prior to engaging in KAP or CAP at Beyond the Mind, but we also are happy to support you in the preparation of other psychedelic experiences that we are unable to provide to you therapeutically. Of course, we cannot offer to you or condone the use of illegal psychedelic substances, nor can we keep you safe if you choose to take psychedelics in other settings. We do strongly believe that it is safer to talk about these experiences rather than do them in secret. We also offer you a promise that we will be honest in sharing any ethical, safety, health, psychological, emotional, or spiritual concerns we may have for your underground use of psychedelics.
